Meet

Cristie Croissant

I have always been an active person playing competitive softball until my early 20’s.  I discovered running in my 30’s and have always done strength training since I was a teen and into my adult life.  All of this kept me healthy and strong but it all took a toll on my body as stretching or mobility training was not a big part of my wellness routine.

All of my workouts and not stretching caught up to me.  I struggled with lower back pain for a year and a half which forced me to take a step back from my regular workouts and focus solely on my flexibility and mobility.

I HATED stretching!  I thought it was dumb and boring.  But I started stretching regularly as well as started getting Thai massages.  And my pain diminished very quickly and happy to say over 2 years later still without back pain.   I no longer hate stretching, have learned the importance of it (the hard way of course).

I believe so much in the benefits Thai massage that I decided to become a certified Thai Massage Practitioner in early 2022.  To further my knowledge, also took my 200 hour yoga teacher training with an additional 20 hours in yin yoga.  Yin yoga has been an amazing complement to Thai massage.

Since I started my Thai massage practice, I have been fortunate to work on professional athletes,  amateur athletes, active and non active people.  I have also treated people who work in a wide range of occupations from dentists to police officers to office employees as well as a variety of ages from teens to late 70’s.  It has really helped me to see how everyone can benefit from working on their flexibility and mobility.

This was my first year as a player sponsor for the Regina Thunder and was a great experience!    The Thunder organization are a great group of players, coaches and staff!

The 2023 Thunder season came to an end on October 22 as the Regina Thunder lost in the Prairie Football Conference Final against the Saskatoon Hilltops.

Thunder finished the season with a 6-2 record.  In his rookie season, Liam played in every game including making the travel team.  He played on both special teams and D-Line this season.  Liam not only grew as a player but also as a person.  Liam pushed himself every day to get better and his hard work paid off.  Liam was awarded the PFC Defensive Rookie of the Year as well as the Defensive Rookie of the Year for the Thunder.

Regina Thunder Player Sponsorship

Liam Sellwood

This year I chose to participate in the Regina Thunder Football Club Player Sponsorship Program. It's a great way to support an amateur athlete as well as share awareness of local businesses.

Regina Thunder athletes average 25 hours per week dedicated to practice, watching film, team meetings and one game per week. Travelling to away games and gym workouts are over and above this! This is a huge commitment for players all while maintaining jobs and/or school as well as making time for friends and family.

As someone who played competitive softball in my teenage years and into my early 20's, I understand the demanding schedule of a high performance athlete and how mobility and flexibility may not play a key role in workout routines. I learned from my own experience how important mobility and flexibility training is for keeping athletes free from injury as well as increasing their sports performance. Thai massage and assisted stretching is my way to help athletes stay healthy and perform at their best.

I am fortunate to work with Liam performing regular Thai massages as part of his total wellness routine to help keep him healthy both on and off the field.

Liam Sellwood

Liam’s football journey started at the end of Grade 8 when he attended a spring camp at Winston Knoll Collegiate.

In grade 9, Liam tried out for the Winston Knoll football team.  Spring camp started in August and after the first few weeks, Liam wasn’t so sure football was the sport for him.  He decided to attend a mini tournament at the beginning of the high school season and once he was able to get in a game situation, he was hooked.

At the end of Grade 9 Liam asked his coaches what he could do in the off season to become a better player.  Liam attended football camps, hit the gym 6 days a week and watched film.

Liam lost his Grade 10  football season to COVID.  Even though there was no high school season, he continued to work out and attend football camps as much as he could.

Grade 11, Liam was starting DE for Winston Knoll.  While the high school season proved to be a challenge, he continued to put 110% effort into becoming better.  Liam’s hard work paid off as he was successfully made the U18 Team Saskatchewan who won the championship in the 2022 Canada Cup.

Grade 12 season came and Liam again was starting D-Line and he also played O-Line.  Liam was awarded the Defensive Player of the Year and Lineman of the Year as well as received a Football Leadership Award for his efforts on the field this year.

Liam continues to commit to being the best he can be through football camps and maintaining his workouts at the gym.

Liam starts his fist year as a member of the Regina Thunder in July 2023.

Here is what Cristie’s Clients have to say

  • My Thai massage experience was great. Since my first one I’ve been back several times. At first I didn’t really know what to expect. Cristie is awesome and very knowledgeable. She listens and attacks what needs to be worked on. I always feel better leaving than I did coming, that’s a true testament to the professionalism that Cristie provides.

  • Cristie is the best at what she does! She has opened my mind to a technique called Thai massage. Massages are something I have always incorporated throughout my career. It’s one of the best ways in aiding increased blood flow to areas of the body to help with a better and faster recovery after games and long weeks of training. Cristie does a phenomenal job of combining deep tissue work to relax the muscles and reduce tension and then is able to move the body into different stretches and shapes to increase my range of motion. I have noticed tremendous improvements in my overall athletic performance, as well as the psychological benefits of calming my nervous system and facilitates in my relaxation, breathing and reduces anxiety. Allowing for a perfect sleep at night and having me ready to perform at the highest level the next day. Cristie will get you right!!! She’s one of one!

  • Playing football for a living, my body is quite literally my livelihood and taking care of it is almost as important as any film, practice or workout. All year Cristie has been my secret weapon. She’s both helped me rehab a major injury and also helped me keep my body functional for when I got back to action. I wouldn’t be where I am today without Cristie and I recommend her to everyone and anyone I can!!
