Doi Suthep, Biking, Kayak and Scenic Views
This morning, we leave the Hotel early (around 06.00am) to arrive early at the foot of Doi Suthep, where wecan take part in a local make merit ceremony by giving Alms (some food & drink, etc.) to the local Monks from Wat Sri Soda. This is an amazing and moving site with usually hundreds of Saffron Robed Monks walking out of the Temple.
From here we can participate in a morning Tai Chi session.
We then we drive North by Van, about an hour from the Hotel to the Sri Lanna National Park. Here we transfer to our Mountain Bikes for a cycle ride through small villages and the rural countryside (approx. 15-20 km), around the Mae Ngad Dam.
On completion, we transfer out by motor boat, to our lunch destination – a floating restaurant. After lunch, we change to “sit-on-top” Kayaks and paddle on the lake, back to the shore (or return by motor boat!), where we meet up with our Van and return to the Hotel.
Later in the later afternoon (at approx. 18.00pm), we drive up to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, the most venerated Temple in Chiangmai, situated on the hill-side some 3000 ft. above the City in the Doi Pui National Park. Here we can climb the 306 stairs, to reach the Temple which encloses a large traditional, “Lanna” style Chedi covered with gold plates (A small mountain Tram is also available if the stairs are too much effort !!) From the Temple Grounds there are also panoramic views over Chiangmai and the surrounding area.
Meals included: Breakfast at the Hotel & Lunch at a very local restaurant
